Dean of Arts, McGill University
Antonia Maioni was named Dean of Arts at McGill University on July 1, 2016. Professor Maioni came to McGill in 1994, and is jointly appointed to the Department of Political Science and the Institute for Health and Social Policy. Her research focuses on health-care reform and the Canadian political process.She holds a BA from Université Laval, an MA from the Norman Paterson of International Affairs at Carleton University, and a PhD in political science from Northwestern University.
She has held visiting appointments at Harvard University, Duke University, and the European University Institute. Professor Maioni served for 10 years as the Director of the McGill Institute for the Study of Canada, and is a past President of the Federation for the Social Sciences and Humanities. She has regularly engaged audiences in thoughtful dialogues about public policy issues with major news media across Canada. She is currently a member of CIFAR’s Research Council.
